Using Highway 41 as our reference, head west on 50!
You'll pass Lawrenceville, Bridgeport, and Sumner. Keep going until you come to 130 – and take a right (north). Travel on a short while until you come to CR 1800N (East Dundas Lane) – and take a right (east)! After a few moments, you're in historical Dundas, Illinois!
In front of the Dundas Ruritan Club (on your right), you'll see an amazing piece of history! The marker is a monument to the determination of Dundas to be in the exact center of the United States population (per the 1950 census)!
The monument commemorates that fact and the dedication ceremony, which was "attended by Adlai E. Stevenson, Governor of the State of Illinois" as well as Henry R. Schricker, the Governor of the State of Indiana."
You might drive right past this interesting little monument all the time, but next time? Stop and take a look! (And a picture!)
